There is nothing wrong with nicad batteries from an environmental perspective, as long as you have the means to recycle them. I believe Saft makes a point of taking them all back to be recycled. The more likely problem is that consumers routinely throw old batteries in the trash. So, I think the nicad ban was for small AA cells and the like, not large EV-sized batteries. -- Lee A.
