I use black undercoating spray available at the local auto store for the
steel erector set frames and red anti-corrosion terminal spray for the
battery terminals that works well.

Check with Mitch Oates also, he went through this process and came up with
better caps from USbattery. I originally had the "new" ganged together quik
caps which leaked and replaced with the individual ones that don't.
