It isn't a leaf, but my 1969 VW bug conversion has a similar range (but no regen). I drove from San Francisco to Santa Cruz in one charge:
http://www.corbinstreehouse.com/blog/2011/11/plug-bug-mileage-and-range/ As you can see, I used 101 and 85, and started from Treasure Island (a bit out of SF). Granted, I stopped at my house (in Santa Cruz count), which is on the top of highway 17 / Summit Rd, but I could have easily "coasted" down to downtown Santa Cruz (it's about 10 miles further, mostly downhill). -corbin On Mar 8, 2013, at 8:32 AM, Cor van de Water <[email protected]> wrote: > Bruce, > Lawrence *can* avoid the wasteful Santa Cruz mountains drive while his > battery is getting empty (possibly not making it up to the top on CA-17 > because you invest energy that you get back on the way down) by simply > getting on CA-1 right near him from Daly City to Santa Cruz.
