There is nothing wrong with what he said as it really is true.  Most cars that 
I own register Empty on the gas guage and turn on a light when there is 50 - 60 
miles worth of gas left.  If you are driving a car that only has that much 
range to begin with it is exactly like driving a car that is perpetually almost 
out of gas.
