Featuring added practicality and low pricing, a new “Cargo” version of
Renault’s Twizy electric vehicle has been launched to target fleets. At the
same time the carmaker has announced a new “Design Your Own Twizy”
customisation scheme.

The new single-seat Cargo derivative replaces the tandem seat on the
standard Twizy with a lockable door giving access to a 180-litre boot
capable of accepting loads up to 75kg.

The Twizy Cargo is also set to offer low running costs that Renault says
could save businesses hundred of pounds per year. This includes a low
purchase price. As a car-derived van, the model works out even £650 cheaper
than the standard model, at £6,241.67 excluding VAT (£7,795 including VAT).

In addition, the VAT can also be reclaimed on its battery hire, from £36 per
month excluding VAT, while the Twizy Cargo offers low servicing and charging
costs, with a full charge costing around £1, as well as exemption from city
centre charges such as the London Congestion Charge

The Twizy Cargo has an official NEDC range of 62 miles, with Renault quoting
a real-world range of around 50 miles, and can be topped up simply by using
a standard three-pin plug, by way of the in-built charging cable. A full
charge takes three and a half hours.

With 17 horsepower at its disposal, the Twizy Cargo is suited to more urban
conditions. It’s also practical for multi-drop stops as the driver can get
in from either side. It can also be parked simply and in the tightest of
spots.

In addition Renault has launched a customisation programme for the entire
range.

Dubbed “Design Your Own Twizy”, the scheme is available to both private and
business customers and offers a choice of over 40 colours and 30
pre-designed wraps along with a choice of finishes.

The patterns are applied at the Renault dealership by highly trained vinyl
fitters, and the finish has a four-year warranty – just like the rest of the
vehicle.

Those wishing to make their Twizy stand out even further can opt for a
completely bespoke service. There’s an online configurator tool at
www.renault.co.uk/dyot that allows customers to try out different designs
and see what they will look like on their Twizy. Prices start from £250
including VAT for just the doors with a complete vehicle wrap costing £795
including VAT.
