I think it was in, "Internal Combustion" by Edwin Black, that I read, in the
very early days of ICE vehicles it was the law that a man with a flag had to
walk in front of the vehicle to warn the folks using horses.

My brother got a brand new Prius, and the first thing I noticed is a quite
loud backup alarm. I like that I can turn the noise off on my 2011 Leaf.
Nissan should have kept that option.

legislation if you extend it to those nearly silent luxury models.
