It is easy to understand when you look at the top 11 companies in the world 8 of the 11 top companies are oil and gas and have a combined valuation of ~$3 Trillion ($3,000,000,000,000) US dollars EV's are a serious threat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_companies_by_revenue If you further consider that many EV users are early adopters of renewable energy such as PV, this has caused a paper complaining about that revenue stream being threatened by PV and articles commenting on it "life is change, how it differs from the rocks"
