I have a friend with an i-Miev and he leased a Smart ED the day after I
did. At an NEEAA meeting a couple months ago we had his i-Miev and a
Honda Fit up on a lift, comparing construction. Let's just say the
Mitsubishi is less rugged than the Honda. I don't know how it compares
to the Smart, though.

Hi Rick,
If you like the ED you will like an i-Miev even more. It is 2" wider
internally than the ED (I think the US version is wider still) and has all the
advantages of the ED (but a good 3 foot longer, 4 feet in the US version) but with a
much more refined ride and a really nice BT-equpped stereo that works very well (in
my version anyway).

Taking the cheapest electric car in the US for a test drive
By John Voelcker, Guest blogger January 22, 2014
Want a cheap, small, eco-friendly convertible? You're in luck: the 2014
Smart ForTwo is the smallest, shortest plug in electric car sold in the
country. But the question remains--what does it feel like in the driver's
seat?
I picked up a 2013 last Saturday and I gotta say it's a blast to drive.
The ride's a little harsh and the very short wheelbase does interesting
things on our frost-heaved roads, but it's still a lot of fun. The
interior is amazingly spacious and it doesn't feel like a tiny car at
all. Except at a red light when the car behind me pulls up close and
seeing a grill in the rear view mirror only 4 feet behind me is a little
unnerving.
EPA range is 68 miles. In the cold--it was 8F this morning--the car
claims it will go 44 miles and that seems to be fairly accurate based on
my last 4 days of driving.
I leased it for 3 years. Out of pocket was $283 and a $124/mo.
My only complaint is the exceedingly bare-bones radio. I miss Sirius and
I need to put in a hands-free bluetooth phone interface.
