That’s because it has an army of drivers and fans willing to make commercials for them. From driving to the beach on Gallons of Light to jetting off into space in 60 Seconds, each fan-made video manages to grab a part of the wonder that comes with driving an electric vehicle. The latest fan-made Tesla commercial is called ‘Hope’. It uses footage from Tesla’s manufacturing plant in Fremont, California plus some footage from the record-breaking coast-to-coast trip undertaken by Tesla. Over the top of this is one of the most iconic speeches from film history. Charlie Chaplin’s final speech in The Great Dictator that starts ‘I’m sorry, I don’t want to be an emperor.’ But advertising for electric cars is tricky to get right. Even major manufactures make some odd decisions, from Nissan’s huggable polar bears to Cadillac’s ‘poolside’ which painted their own customers as… well, jerks.
