The all-electric Fat 500e has arrived in Oregon, Chrysler Group announced in
a press release. Named "Top Electric Vehicle" for the second consecutive
year at the Northwest Automotive Press Association's Drive Revolution event
this past summer, the 500e became available in California in 2013 and has
been in high demand ever since.

"Bringing the Fiat 500e to Oregon gives more customers in this
environmentally minded state the opportunity to enjoy the Italian style and
engaging driving dynamics of the Fiat 500 but with zero tailpipe emissions,"
said Jason Stoicevich, Head of FIAT Brand for North America, Chrysler Group
LLC.

The 500e has a best-in-class rating of 108 MPGe (miles per gallon
equivalent) with no emissions. It has a range of 87 combined city/highway
miles, with the city range usually exceeding 100 miles.

Acknowledging the space and range limitations of the 500e, Fiat has provided
a service called the Fiat 500e Pass program. Through a partnership with
Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car, and National Car Rental, lessees
and buyers of the 500e are provided with alternative transportation for up
to 12 days each year for three years after acquiring the car.

The 500e carries a price of $32,650 including destination charge and can be
leased for $199 per month for 36 months with $999 down. After incentives,
California residents can get one for as little as $20,600.

Fiat loses money on each 500e they sell, but to maintain a presence in
California's car market, automakers must put out a certain number of
zero-emission vehicles, reports USA Today. Other states have adapted
California's clean-air policies for new vehicles.

Fiat has been a majority owner of Chrysler Group (who filed Chapter 11 five
years ago) as of January this year, in an acquisition deal going back to
June 2009 and costing $4.9 billion.

2015 Fiat 500e hits California and Oregon and it is cheap
by Luke Ottaway 2014-09-24

A slightly refreshed all-electric 2015 Fiat 500e is now available at select
studios in California and Oregon. If you live in one of those states and are
in the market for an EV, the 500e deserves serious consideration on lease
price alone.

The Fiat 500e is something of an enigma in the electric vehicle realm. It
has wowed critics and brought in a few awards, leads its class in electric
range with 87 miles and highway efficiency with 108 MPGe, and is available
with a great lease deal – yet until this summer was only available in
California as a compliance car, and its CEO quite frankly hates it.

As though it wasn’t previously clear that the 500e was only ever intended to
be a compliance car to satisfy California ZEV regulations, Fiat-Chrysler CEO
Sergio Marchionne recently urged customers to stay away from the sexy and
fun-to-drive 500e because his company allegedly loses $14,000 with each one
sold.

Now sales of the 500e have expanded to Oregon, although don’t expect many to
be made available. The 2015 model comes with a new center console and two
new color choices, and despite its MSRP of $31,800 is offered with a
fantastic lease deal of $199 per month for 36 months with a $999 down
payment.

What is interesting is that despite Fiat-Chrysler’s resistance to sales of
the 500e, they seem to be doing things right in support of the electric
two-door. In addition to the attractive lease deal, Fiat offers
transportation alternatives for trips beyond the vehicle’s range or cargo
capacity. The Fiat 500e Pass program partners with car rental agencies to
allow owners to rent vehicles for free 12 days per year for the first three
years of ownership.

500e: The Grand Tour

The 2015 Fiat 500e electric car is now in showrooms

Fiat announced this week that its new 2015 electric car, the 500e, would be
available in both California and Oregon. Prices begin at $31,800 and lease
rates are set at $199 per month with $999 due at signing, for a 36-month
agreement. Fiat initially built the EV in order to meet California smog
laws, as a so-called “compliance car,” but the 500e has become popular with
consumers due to its generous range (a combined 87 miles per charge),
108-mpg-equivalent, and reasonable price structure.

The above video clip provides a complete visual review of the Fiat 500e,
including close-ups of interior and exterior features. Notice the advanced
navigation system, digital cluster panel, and fold-down rear seats. The
steering wheel has stereo controls on its backside, and there are even
seat-warmers standard in the 2015 model. Fiat made plenty of new options
available as well, including two new colors, a sport version, retractable
sunroof, and various interior styling packages. Spend a few minutes
exploring the 500e. It is no wonder the car has already won several awards
and continues to rank high in both range and consumer satisfaction among all
electric cars in the market.

Named ‘Top Electric Vehicle’ Twice

Chrysler Group distributes the Fiat brand in North America. Fiat’s brand
chief, Jason Stoicevich, said, “Bringing the Fiat 500e to Oregon gives more
customers in this environmentally-minded state the opportunity to enjoy the
Italian style and engaging driving dynamics of the fiat 500, but with zero
tailpipe emissions.” The Northwest Automotive Press Association’s Drive
Revolution chose the Fiat 500e as its Top Electric Vehicle this year and
last year.

We drive the Fiat 500e
by Ali Arsham September 25, 2014
Leave it to the Italians to add style and performance to an electric car.
The Fiat 500e was a pleasant surprise for us and we hated to see it go away.
Most electric cars have the personality of a banana and can even be less fun
to drive. The Fiat 500e delivered a terrific driving experience with 87 mile
range in a good looking package during its stay with us.
