I guess I never considered a distinction. When you lease a house, the landlord pays for maintenance, and I'd expect the same for leasing a battery - that's one of the advantages. I hadn't thought about the fact that you have to maintain a leased automobile yourself. That certainly wouldn't be an ideal model for battery leasing.
