With a starting price of $70,000, the Tesla Model S is undoubtedly a luxury
vehicle that only the upper crust of society can afford. But there are other
ways to get into a Model S that don’t involve buying it, or even renting
one, at least in the traditional sense. Peer-to-peer house-sharing service
AirBnB has a Tesla Model S “hotel” for rent for about $600 a week, so now
you and up to one other person can “camp out” in the electric sedan.

The Tesla “hotel” is actually located in the garage of the owner’s condo,
where you’ll have access to the kitchen, bathroom, and living areas. But the
sleeping accommodations are the Model S, which has been outfitted with a
couple of battery-operated “candles” and an inflatable double bed, providing
surprisingly roomy (and groovy) accommodations. It’s not often that many of
us have the opportunity to sleep in a $118,000 hotel room (this is a P85
version), and the owner will even drive you around Phoenix, Arizona (where
the Tesla and condo are located) for an extra fee.

It’s fun to note that the Tesla does make an ideal camping vehicle. Because
it is all-electric, the heat or A/C can run all night without worrying about
killing the battery or putting harmful emissions in the air. And because the
back seats fold flat directly into the rear trunk, a mattress fits without
any issues. There’s also the fact that the 17-inch touchscreen lets you
browse the internet and play music, though even in park the screen won’t
play any videos.

Alas, because this is the owner’s main car, there are some restrictions,
like an 8 AM rise-and-shine mandate, and there are no pets or mutl-person
parties allowed inside Hotel Tesla. Still, it’s hard to beat the price, even
if you don’t actually get a chance to drive it…though I bet if you’re nice
to the owner, you might be able to work out a brief test drive. While it
might be awhile before we all end up driving a Tesla, this is your chance to
spend a lot of quality time with one, right now.

Tesla hotel: Driver rents out car on Airbnb
Kashmira Gander 23 January 2015

The £58 per night 'room' comes with clean sheets and two electric candles
for mood lighting

In what appears to be a bid to make a fast buck, a driver in the US is
listing his car as a hotel on [airbnb.com].

The host, Steve Sasman, is offering users the dubious privilege of sleeping
in what he is calling the “World’s 1st TESLA Hotel!”

But details on the listing quickly make it clear that Sasman, a part-time
taxi driver and rental specialist from Phoenix, Arizona, is hardly offering
a hotel - rather charging users $85 (£58) per night to sleep on an airbed in
the back of his car locked in his garage.

“Want to experience the amazing TESLA Model S? Now is your chance to CAMP in
a TESLA for the most unique stay possible. How often do you get to sleep in
a $118,000 Electric Car?” Sasman asks users on Airbnb.

He adds that the car will act as “your 'Private Room'” adding that access to
a kitchen, TV room and bathroom are also available in Sasman’s condo.

Oddly, the listing states that 1.5 bathrooms are available to guests.

“You can set the mood with your selection of any Internet music you would
like on the huge 17" monitor,” Sasman adds in his attempt to lure customers.

The advert claims that the car can accommodate two people on one airbed, and
also comes with heating, shampoo, clean sheets, pillows and a blanket or
comforter, and two radio-controlled, battery-powered candles to set the
mood.

The price section explains that there are no charges for extra people –
whether they’d fit in the Tesla or not being another question - and a
security deposit of £68 ($100) must be paid before anyone can use Sasman’s
services.

But despite the home comforts, guests must be out of the car by 8am so
Sasman can drive to work. As a consolation “guests are free to hang out in
the Condo and even sleep-in longer on the big comfy couch if you like,” he
says.

“Price includes a Tesla pick-up & drop-off at Sky Harbor Airport IF our
schedules match up! We can discuss guided tours of Phoenix in the Tesla if
you wish!” he adds.

And while he boasts of how roomy his Tesla is, he jokingly stipulates:
“Sorry, NO NBA Players allowed. Despite my love for basketball, the Tesla is
just too small for anyone over 6' 6”. Please...stop asking.”

Mr Sasman bought the car four months ago but so far no one has taken him up
on his offer.

He told CBS5: “I’ve already slept in this thing three times so why not let
other people do it?”

Spend a night in the fastest hotel in the world
January 24 2015 ...

For motorheads who can't afford to drive a Tesla Model S luxury car, there's
always the cheaper option of sleeping in one.

Arizona man Steve Sasman is renting out his electric car ...

Despite being touted as the world's first Tesla hotel, "the fastest hotel in
the world", so far no one has taken up the offer.

"I've already slept in this thing three times so why not let other people do
it," Sasman told CBS5.

This isn't the only way he's using his car to make money -- he's also a
part-time Uber driver. His full-time job is reportedly in vacation rentals.

Other unusual Airbnb listings have included train carriages, on old bread
van, and a retired aeroplane.
