Tiger TESLA (Shimajiro)

Look! Outside the office complex! Is ... a Tesla Model S decked out as the
tiger in the Shima Shima Tora no Shimajiro Japanese anime series that was
once so beloved by Japanese toddlers. And, in this case, us as well.

The Tesla, first seen a few years ago, was spotted outside of an office
complex in Kobe, Japan, and was committed to posterity in a 46-second video
now posted on YouTube. The black-and-yellow Model S was part of a local
educational program that included the Shimajiro series, which debuted in
1993 and ran for almost 15 years.

And ferocious performance be damned, this Tiger-themed Tesla looks downright
cuddly. The sedan includes a smiley face and two saucer eyes on the grille
of the Model S's "frunk," a pair of "ears" near the windshield and, yes, a
tail sticking out of the trunk. Check out the video above and prepare to be
charmed.

Tiger-themed Tesla Model S Wrap a Nod to Japanese Anime

What do you get when you cross a Japanese preschool tiger anime with a Tesla
Model S? You get one of the happiest looking cars on the road outfitted with
its own set of ears and tail.

YouTube user BusanKevin uploaded a video of the Shimajiro Tesla seen outside
of an office complex in Kobe, Japan. Shimajiro, a mascot to a popular
Japanese preschool educational program, was created by parent publishing
company Benesse as a way to promote children’s education.

There’s not much to say about the car other than the fact that it’s so wrong
yet so right. A tiger-themed Tesla Model S wrap can only be acceptable if
the mission itself is one of education, especially if it’s for children.

That won’t stop us from cracking a few jokes at it though. Enjoy!

The Shimajiro EV is the coolest customized Tesla Model S yet. Our reasoning
for this statement may seem obvious (see photo above), but it's about more
than just looks. Ok, it's (mostly) all about the looks.

But there's also the fact that Benesse, a Japanese education company, has
chosen to use the American all-electric as a new vehicular version of its
(Children's Challenge) mascot, Shimajiro. That's cool because kids can learn
at a young age that big-people cars, like the toy versions, can run on
batteries too.

We're not the only one who likes this kawaii Tesla, of course. The electric
Shimajiro also gets a big thumbs up from a certain Nobuhiro "Monster"
Tajima. Of course, we know Tajima-san likes him some Model S, but what we
didn't know was the he and Children's Challenge have teamed up in the past
to create some online materials about electric cars and his own Pike's Peak
challenge.

Sadly, he have no video of Monster putting the car through its tire-smoking
paces (because that would be hilarious), though we have managed to track
down a few photos, showing the zoomorphic zoomer from different angles. So,
definitely check out the back in the gallery because it's as amusing as the
front.
