I thought Bill's experience was cute. But Buddy's experience reminded me of the different experiences with either the company ice car or my own EV, where dogs would mark their territory. I came to the conclusion that it wasn't the dog's dislike of my car, but rather their marking what some other dog had already done (like my vehicle was fire plug).
Since it was my CE responsibility to keep the company ice car in tip-top shape, I kept that company ice car clean, washed and waxed regularly (I really did have high-end customers come out to the company ice car with me after the problem was fixed to stow my tools and parts back inside, and see what their expensive computer support contract was paying for). But some humans let their dogs run wild, rather than actually caring for them, so those wheels were also routinely re-marked, especially after being just washed. With Bill's post, I had a another thought. What would it take to make a controller not make sounds that humans nor animals could hear? Granted there would not be a large market for such designs, except for hunting EVs, or the peta / nature-loving folks. I am assuming that the controller's PWM (pulse width modulated) square wave with a varying duty (on/off) cycle would reek havoc on trying to reduce harmonics that could not be heard from the controller's power feed to the motor windings. But, I wonder what it would take or if it were even possible to truly make an inaudible EV(?).
