Top Gear's gone green Has the gas-guzzling motoring show gone all tree-hugger on us? Not quite, but Rory Reid was making all the right sounds when reviewing the Tesla Model IX. The presenter took the futuristic electric car seriously (something which Clarkson would never dreamed of doing) and gave credit where credit was due - weighing up the pros, cons and carbon footprint of the Tesla. Thanks to some stunning photography showing Reid zipping across the streets of New York, the film didn't pale in comparison to Chris Harris's high-octane Vulcan film. He made a convincing argument that this could be the car of the future. With its falcon-like doors reminiscent of a Star Wars podracer and self-driving mode, it made the future seem a little too real. Maybe the Beeb are playing it extra safe after Clarkson's debacle in Argentina. Rory Reid is taking the Tesla Model IX for a spin in the states. It's like something out of Star Wars with its falcon wing doors and medical-grade air filters. Not sure about a car that changes lanes for you though, scary technology. Top Gear seems to be taking an interest in green issues, Reid has taken a balanced look at the Tesla. He's not saying that the electric car is perfect, but it is quite possibly the future. Could we all be driving (or, rather, be driven by) the Tesla Model IX in a few years time? What's more Reid is a refreshing presenter, he could bring in a more youthful audience ...
