Electric vehicle owners will be on hand to explain the benefits of owning vehicles that run clean with zero tailpipe emissions, outstanding performance and range and almost no maintenance, said James Reach of the Sierra Club’s Los Padres Chapter, who is organizing the show. Vehicles to be featured at the show will include Tesla Model S P85D and Model X, BMW i3, Chevy Spark, Mercedes Benz B Class and Nissan Leaf, among others. All vehicles — both all-electric and plug-in hybrids — will be shown by their owners. No dealers will take part, Reach said. Reach drives an all-electric Tesla Model S with Autopilot. “I love that quick acceleration and quiet ride,” he said of his car. "Once you start driving an all-electric vehicle, you will never go back again to a conventional gas-powered car,” he added. "Year after year, the range limitations and performance of these vehicles keeps getting better, and now utility companies offer special rates and features at home for the EV users." The event is sponsored by the Los Padres Chapter of the Sierra Club in celebration of National Drive Electric Week.
