Usain Bolt is backing the aptly named Bolt Mobility, a firm that is offering a two-seat electric car, called the Bolt Nano. Designed for short, inner-city journeys, the Bolt Nano is aimed at distances between two and 15 miles. Looking much like the Renault Twizy, the Bolt Nano is a one-plus-one unit with space for bags. No technical details are available as of now. However, the firm has said that the Nano will use swappable batteries, making it the only electric micro-car in the world to do so. The company said that it is marketing the Nano as a ride-sharing vehicle. Unlike e-scooter systems that have to be charged in facilities, the Nano’s swappable batteries will be replaceable wherever they are parked. Bolt said that orders are already being taken for the pocket not-so rocket at $999. The Bolt Nano will be priced at $9999. The company said that ride-sharing firms running the Bolt Nano can split revenue equally with Bolt Mobility, with a per-minute hire price for users yet to be set. Bolt currently offers a range of e-scooters intended in the US for trips of up to two miles. Here, the firm charges 15 cents per minute to use its app-controlled scooters, in addition to a $1 usage fee. Bolt Mobility was founded in 2018 and is based in Florida, US.
