I did not know there were 12v eGO scooters. I think mine is all 24vdc. No DC/DC. I do have more data. I was regening down my hill going slowly. Each battery was 13.34vdc exactly. almost all the way down the hill the regen cut out and I couldn't get it going. I pushed along till about a block before where I was going and I could start again. I did my business and got a click when I started but put it in go fast mode. I changed to go far mode and it wouldn't engage the contactor. So turning on and off the vehicle can cause the problem. I may try jumpering the key. The switch has known problems. Lawrence Rhodes

There are two things that occur to me. First, your contactor might be going bad and only works correctly after it has sat unused for a while. You could test for this by turning the key switch on and off several times before your ride. If it emits a good strong clack each time, try stopping after you’ve ridden the scooter for several miles and repeat this test. If it still emits a good strong clack it’s probably okay. If not, that might be the problem. You also might not be getting sufficient voltage at the low voltage side of the contactor to close the contact. You should be able to check this on the contactor where power enters the unit. If I remember correctly, it comes from the key switch, but I would check a wiring diagram to be sure. It should read something close to the voltage of one of your batteries if you have a 12 volt scooter. The latter scooters used 24 volts for lights and everything. If you have one of these, you should see something close to the full pack voltage. I don’t know what the green wire does since I don’t have one on my 12v 2005 Ego. I don’t think this is a problem involving the brushes. Hope this helps, tedd On Thursday, April 16, 2020, 12:24:53 PM PDT, Lawrence Rhodes primobass...@sbcglobal.net [egoscooters] <egoscoot...@yahoogroups..com> wrote: Problem: After normal time out the contactor will not re-energize and turn the bike back on when turning the key to go far or go fast. (no click) It will start to work intermittently after time.(click) It has never failed while riding. One other thing, the wiring diagram doesn't show the small green wire that is connected in the middle of the pack. Does any one have a link to a picture of the batteries with this wire attached? Does anyone know what this wire does. I finally read the owners manual after three years of riding and found out about this auto shut off feature. Again my problem is the bike will not restart after auto shutoff. I did check the brushes. They look good and are about 3/4 inch long. The Ego controller will time out after two minutes of no activity. To get it to go again, you turn the key to off, and then to either go fast or go far. Your question implies that you've already done that and it works fine. What are you expecting to happen that isn't happening? The eGO has a self disconnect circuit which switches off the controller after two minutes of inactivity. My eGO won't switch back on after this operation. Anyone have any ideas on a fix? The brushes are good and the bike doesn't seem to have many miles on it. I have been riding it around for a couple of years. Very dependable other than this quirk.
