I think it was 15 years ago, Solectria worked with company (e-Motion?) to convert some Smart fortwo gliders into EVs, the project was eventually abandoned. When that happened a lot of the motors and controllers ended up on the market. I have the Solectria Motor and Controller plus the 364V charger that I bought off eBay.
There are a few problems with the parts that I never got around to solving, so they are all still sitting on a shelf. #1 I could never find the propriatary wiring harness. #2 The controller and battery charger were configured to use CAN-Bus with fly-by-wire control So, as I understand it, you need a matvching can-bus throttle pedal and a battery pack that speaks the appropriate can-bus messages, etc. Again, I was never able to find any documentation about these can bus messages which makes using the controll/charger difficult at best. The model number on my controller is the same as the one found at the salvage place, plus the voltage is the same (which I don't think was a common voltage for Solectria controllers) so I suspect these are also left-overs from the above project and may be difficult to use. P.S. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve the above two issues, I'd be very interested in hearing about it.
