Thanks Phil I ordered the Advantec Boombox stereo version since I also like playing my 5000 44GB songs (Amazon recommended as newer model $60), both got good reviews .
Turns out the FM dropouts were a result of the vehicle computer disconnecting the audio occasionally, reboot fixes (mashing the two balls).
