We want to have the current EG self check module developed to make it more
on par with self check software by other major vendors. However, our host
cannot guarantee access to a new development for up to 2 years - which
includes development, pushing to the overall EG community and then waiting
until our consortium will accept that version. We would rather not pay for
something and have to wait that long.

So, the thought was, since EG is open source, would it be possible to host
our own version of the EG self check module (whether that means we have to
spin up an entire EG server or not), pay a developer to improve it and use
that instead. That being said, it would have to point to our consortium's
databases for patron and item data.

It is a long shot, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.
