William,

I would day that is a bug. If you have not already done so, I recommend opening a bug on Launchpad.

Fix one bug, introduce 3 more..... :)

Cheers,
Jason

I tried looking for a bug, but I just could not find one.  This certainly sounds like it might be the cause.

Hi,

Perhaps this is a consequence/effect of this patch - https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1996818 <https://bugs.launchpad.net/evergreen/+bug/1996818>?

 From Comment #5:

AngularJS Place Hold button sets the same cookie as Angular. This
branch also clears the cookie and broadcasts to all catalog tabs to
    remove the hold target when:
    - the Clear button for the hold target is pressed
    - the hold interface loads a different patron
    - a different Angular route loads
    - AngularJS app starts (left the Angular context)

I think what's happening is the last bullet point. The patron's Holds tab is in AngularJS, so when that's reloaded, the catalog loses the hold target.

I'm not sure how to resolve that, but Circulation > Retrieve Last
Patron    (or just F8)  should work as an easy workaround.

        HI Will

SPARK/PaILS just upgraded to 3.11.1 last night and I was able to
replicate what your libraries are reporting.  I placed a hold in
one tab, refreshed the other tab and the patron info in the
        first tab is gone.

*Subject:* [Evergreen-general] Holds - patron account vanishes
        when another tab refreshed

        Good morning,

This past weekend we upgraded to Evergreen version 3.11.1, and a
handful of libraries have reported an issue that I have been
unable to replicate myself (and none of my colleagues with NC
Cardinal have been able to, either), and I could not find an
existing bug report for it, try as I might.  I was hoping
someone on this listserv might have encountered it, or be able
to reproduce it, in case anyone might have a potential solution.

According to the libraries, in the past, as they are placing
lots of holds for patrons (for example, for homebound services),
they would typically keep two tabs open connected with the same
patron account. One is for actively placing holds and the other
is for keeping track of how many holds they have placed for the
patron.  However, after the upgrade they noticed that when they
go to check how many holds they have placed for a particular
patron, after they have refreshed the tab with the holds listed,
the other tab loses the connection with the patron account and
then acts just as a catalog search screen.  They said they have
tested this another user's login and received the same results.

However, as I noted above, I have been unable to replicate this
        myself.

        Another library described it thus:

         1. One browser tab open to patron account --> Holds (to show
            all holds)
         2. Open another browser tab to place hold while on patron account.
         3. If you refresh the first tab with the patron’s account, then
the second tab changes to regular staff catalog screen.

        And provided the following screenshots:

Any assistance anyone might be able to provide with this would
        be greatly appreciated.

        Thank you.
