We no longer use pennies in Canada but we wouldn't want Evergreen to automatically round. If rounding was introduced as a feature we'd need it to be optional so we could opt out.
In Canada rounding to 0 or 5 only happens if someone pays in cash. Purchases paid using cheques, credit card, debits, and e-transfers are still paid to the cent. Currently, our fine rules used in circulation policies are found to already be set to the nearest 0.25 cent. However, item prices set for item replacement cost differ and are not always rounded to the nearest coin or dollar. I wanted to start a discussion to see if others have begun to think about possible future changes to try and avoid the use of pennies. Are there any libraries that have already made plans to handle this change in currency? Your feedback on this topic is greatly appreciated.
