*Yesterday President Trump and his defense secretary Pete Hegseth ordered
the country’s top military brass to come to a base in Virginia for an
unexplained meeting. Some had to fly in from Germany, Brussels, Japan and
South Korea. The meeting was televised. Hegseth introduced the president
and as Trump walked to the microphone he was met with stony silence from
the military brass. Trump seemed very surprised by that and said: *

*"I've never walked into a room so silent before"*

*That remark produced a few small chuckles from his generals so Trump said:*

*"Don't laugh, don't laugh, you're not allowed to do that. You know what?
Just have a good time. And if you want to applaud, you applaud. And if you
want to do anything you want, you can do anything you want. And if you
don't like what I'm saying you can just leave the room. Of course there
goes your rank there goes your future”.*

*Trump then gave an improvised 73 minute speech. He talked about the things
he always talks about, Joe Biden's autopen, the biased news media, he
talked about tariffs and the time he went to a restaurant in Washington for
dinner and the injustice of not winning a Nobel Peace Prize. This time he
did not mention the thrilling time he got stuck on an escalator and the
heroic way he overcame that tragedy. Trump said nothing he had not said a
dozen times before until he got to minute number 44 when he said this: *

*"I told Pete [**Hegseth]*, we should use some of these dangerous cities [in
the USA] as training grounds for our military."
