If this is true, then it is still possible in the default mode when the sidebar is visible and could also be made available in the shell menus.
I'm working on a patch to do this. It adds a "_Window" top level menu and the components are dynamically loaded into it (using icons and labels). This is similar to "Places" in Nautilus and "Window" in Mozilla suite.
But how should add mnemonics and accelerators for these items? The shell only knows what is in the component registry.
Add something like label_with_mnemonic to the component info structure?
Is it even necessary to add accelerators?
