Many thanks for the reply explaining this. Whilst on the one hand I can understand the developers moving the icons out if they felt they were not used, but on the other hand I must agree with others that providing a configurable toolbar would be better than just removing icons which some people use and others don't. However, you state that doing this is not practicable due to the changing state of the toolbar and the overall complexity. I cannot argue against that since I have no idea of what is involved. For myself I never use the junk/not junk icons because we have server-side filtering of spam. I never use the previous/next icons either.
