I use the Cosmo calendaring system from OSAF (http://www.osafoundation.org/) - it's CALDav based and works fine from Evolution. There's also a web server based component so you can access your calendar via the web (called Scooby). It's all a bit rough around the edges and is only at the 0.3 release level, but it works for me and allows me to access my calendar from various places.
