I was using EWS. had same issue. Due to networking changes at my company (2 different networks: company, Productions) EWS would not work on the prod network where I spend most of my time. DavMail works in both networks.

Then you can choose with which of the two you'd prefer to stay (the evolution-ews adds to all Evolution views [Contacts/Calendars/Tasks/Memos/Mails], without a need of a 3rd-party daemon being running in the background).
