I actually didn't realize that Evolution has not updated for a year. I
guess there is a reason they call it Debian "stable".
I installed Debian Testing as a virtual machine, as it comes with the
3.38 version of Evolution. Sure enough, this problem is not there. So I
will just wait another 6 or so months until Debian 11 becomes the new
"stable" release and Evolution updates (since I don't want to use
Flatpack).
