This has been bothering me for a while. I use evolution (on ubuntu), Android for phone and tablet and Outlook on windows 10. They all sync google contacts and calendars. Which pretty much works.
Evolution/Google have been complaining for sometime about the contacts versus people api used in evolution saying contact api is depricated. Google now say it is "sunsetted" post June 2021 i.e. not saupported so I am not sure how it keeps working?? See https://developers.google.com/contacts/v3/announcement Looking at libgdata there is some activity but it doesn't seem a hugely supported library and no talk of moving to people api that I can see. I have looked for an alternative but dont really want to go down the microsoft/activesync route as it will involve effort and I dont really trust microsoft not to pull up the drawbridge at some point. So a) Is there a move to support People API for evolution anywhere? And if not will evolution stop accessing google contacts anytime soon? b) Given what I am doing is there a better, longer term supported solution? (Though this is probably better in another post!)
