It is a euro sign in both places (I can see it fine here in the
development version), the _ is because it is having trouble with finding
a font with the euro and displays a placeholder character instead.  Make
sure you pick a font encoding that actually contains the euro like
iso8859-15 for gtkhtml and your gtk theme font (there is no way to
explicitly pick a font for Etable short of editing your gtkrc).

None of these font issues apply to the development branch because we get
to use gtk2's vastly improved text routines.
