I believe that this would be a WM issue. Back in the Gnome 1.4 days
using Sawfish, I could bind any key to anything. Nowadays that I'm using
Gnome 2.2 and Metacity, I can only bind keys to predefined functions,
and I'm also a lot more limited in which keys I can use. If you're using
the "default" Gnome 2 WM (being metacity) you can try switching to
Sawfish and see where you can get with that. Either run "sawfish-ui
--group=bindings" or go to Applications -> Desktop Preferences ->
Advanced -> Sawfish -> Key Bindings. Good luck. :)
