I ran into this with trying to sort the tasks by multiple criteria. I found a bug on bugzilla for it, so it is a known issue. You could add your experience with the bug when sorting mail, because it's only for tasks right now: http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=44645
