I seem to recall that mozilla mail (or was it some other mailer I used a long time ago?) had an option to "compress mailbox", and that it was necessary to do so in order to free up disk space after "deleting" messages. If that's what you have in mind, Dennis, Evolution does deletion differently, and compressing the mailbox after deleting mail is unnecessary.
If you want to use compress, gzip, bzip2, etc. on the mbox file in order to save space, as Not Zed says, Evolution won't be able to read it. Probably only really useful for archival purposes. -Mark Gordon On Fri, 2003-08-08 at 14:33, Not Zed wrote: > gzip -9 mbox > > but evolution wont read it. > > On Fri, 2003-08-08 at 12:53, Dennis Tuchler wrote: > > How do you compress the mbox file? > > > > Thanks _______________________________________________ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
