Jeff,

Did a 'df', I have 4.5 Gig free, should be enough.

As I said, although I have Mutt on my box, I don't have Pine and have never knowingly
used either of them.

I rather suspect that rieserfs journalling is to blame through a power loss. (although
the box is a laptop, the battery is goosed so it must stay premenantly tethered to the
power supply). So it would be difficult to reproduce.

If the mbox were corrupted, I would expect there to be some evidence of this in the
Inbox, which appears to be perfectly sound.

Is there any way of extracting the info (including attachements) out of the mbox? Then
I could discard it and start again.

Many thanks,

Dave

camel is the mail access/parsing library used by evolution.

summary files contain a summary of what messages are in the folder. they
are used for generating the message-list so that we don't have to parse
the mbox file every time. this is why evolution is so much faster than
mutt and pine and many other mailers.
