I think this "may" be related to which theme you have chosen for your
desktop. I can't remember which one it was, but I had trouble with the
check marks (ticks) being the opposite of what I wanted for Evo and Pan
whenever that particular theme was chosen.

The HTML format mode stuff doesnt work with "Grand Canyon" theme.

I tried out "Industrial", "Blue Curve", "Crux", High Contrast", High Contrast Inverse", "Large Print", "Mist", "Ocean Dream", "Simple", Smokey Blue" and "Traditional" themes in a mad flurry and all of them work fine...!!!!

Thanks for restoring my trust in my visual and mental correlation capabilities...:)
That apart, bug in gnome-themes...eh..??
