Well everyone has it's own preference and that's the power of Linux- in Winblowz you can't choose anything, here you can choose everything. That's why it would be great to incorporate this feature- those who want would use it, others would be switching among displays / windows every 3 minutes to check for new mails (or listen to notifications)...

It's not productive to keep switching to another desktop to see if you have new
mail...
