Pardon my ignorance about LDAP, but I"m not following the syntax on the uri (see below)

I'm not familiar with what 'dc' means, or its syntax. The dc=org??one part baffles me. I'm gathering that one is the search scope? > > </section> > > NOTE: Change the URL to match the address book URL you want to use. > > With LDAP URLs it has to be formatted using the correct syntax for your > > system. > > > > -------------- Snippet Ends ------------------- > > > > How do I prevent Evolution from overwriting the file each time ? > > did you exit all evolution processes before editing the file? > try running 'oaf-slay' before editing. > btw: I am using a url like: > > ldap://troll/ou=Contacts,dc=dimensional,dc=de?mail?one? So you use the ou in the uri, why doesn't the guy above? What is dc=dimensional (something specific to your environment?)? Also, why, in dc=de?mail?one? do you specify de, instead of org? Pardon me for my silly ldap questions, I've never had to work with it before any farther than putting the base and server in ldap.conf, netscape messenger and a few other places to get things generally working most of the time. Plus the ldap guys here are not very forth coming with information on configuring applications that are not supported by the infrastructure group.
