I use both pine and evolution depending on the situation.  You should
not have procmail filter your mail into mailboxes that evolution handles
directly.  Having procmail change the contents of those mailboxes will
make for a bad situation with evolution.

You can continue to use procmail and have both pine and evolution access
the same mailboxes but you must access your mailstore through IMAP.

The setup is not difficult.  Remember that you need to configure pine to use
IMAP as well.
