Yeah, and this is actually what evolution-nognome is supposed to do
(using GNOME_PATH instead of OAF_INFO_PATH actually, but that shouldn't
matter).

Anyways, it sounds like you might have an oaf that doesn't come from the
Ximian packages?  All the Ximian packages install stuff in /opt/gnome.
