You might use a package named pilot-mailsync from CVS which has a
gnome-conduit.
This pilot-mailsync replaces sendmail conduit and allows you to sync against
a imap account, local mboxes and mh mail files.

The sendmail conduit will send any mail you've written on the palm
through sendmail and out to its recipient.  It does not sync the INBOX. 
That does not exist AFAIK.
