Can you get a log of the smtp transaction?

to do that:

export CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1; killev; evolution-mail

wait until evolution-mail says that it is ready, and then start
evolution in another terminal window (or via a menu or whatever, it
doesn't matter).

now hit send&receive once evo finishes starting up and copy paste the
debug spew that is written to the first terminal (with evolution-mail
running in it).
