We have a potential volunteer for rdma_core backports but they need to better
understand the work and the potential time commitments. Vlad, can you give us a
brief summary on the level of work required and time commitments for rdma_core?

Also, we have not heard back from Chelsio, Huawei, and Cavium regarding future
OFED releases and support.

Thanks,

Arlin

Subject: [ewg] OFA EWG Meeting: Monday, Jan 27th 2020 - Minutes

Attendees Company
Arlin Davis Intel
Rupert Dance SW Forge

Adit Ranadive VMware

Paul Grun HPE-Cray
Jim Ryan OFA

Missing: Cavium, Chelsio, Huawei

Agenda:

* OFED_5.5 - discuss future requirements and validate resource
commitments

* Kernel.org 5.5 just released, if we move forward, we would likely
build OFED-5.6 (2 weeks out).

* IWG is not ready to communicate their new charter, no input regarding
OFED requirements at this time.

* Broadcom still needs OFED with latest upstream backported for
customers, can commit resources for their drivers

* VMware also needs OFED with latest upstream backported for customers,
can commit resources

o Both mentioned the need for quick turnaround, little value if it takes 4-6
months to release.

* Intel would like OFED but only for OFA interop/validation testing.

o No backports, can commit resources for kernel.org support only.

o In-box distro support and latest upstream kernel is their support model

*         Mellanox

o In-box distro support, latest upstream kernel, and Mellanox OFED is their
support model

o Will continue to support OFED with mlx backports, however:

o Cannot commit to quick turnaround on rdma_core integration/backports going
forward

* Need input from Cavium, Chelsio, and Huawei - CC'ed on minutes,
please respond to EWG list

* Need someone to volunteer for quick rdma_core integration/backporting
- Anyone?

Regards,

Arlin
