We have an immediate Openings with Our Direct Client for a Long term contract position *Job Title: VDI / VMWare Engineer* *Location: Westport CT* *Duration: 9 + Months* *Position Summary * We are seeking a VDI Engineer to participate in a complete rebuild of a large hedge funds VDI implementation. The engineer will be responsible for build, implementation, performance tuning, benchmarking and migration to the new VMware Horizon View virtual desktop environment. Only candidates who are legally authorized to work in the US and can pass our background screening will be considered. *Required Experience * The candidate requires 3-5 years’ experience in actual deployment and implementation of VMware View: · Experience with VMware View Horizon version 5.x and VMware vSphere 5.x · Installation and configuration of vSphere 5.x · Installation and configuration of hardware, storage and network for VMware Horizon View · Management and Support of VMware Horizon View · Collecting benchmarks and performance analysis of a Horizon View environment for both speed/response time and capacity (including relevant toolsets) · Experience tuning a VMware View Horizon environment for peak performance · Patching Virtual Infrastructure · Desktop Patching · Desktop Optimization · Build and maintenance of Windows desktop images · Experience deploying and managing Windows desktop management tools, including security products, application distribution, and user and device management · Must have worked on enterprise VDI implementations · Familiar with application virtualization and streaming · VMware vCAC (VMware Cloud Automation Center) *Desired Experience * It would also be useful if the resource had experience in: · Storage acceleration SSD products for VDI (Pure Storage and Extreme I/O) · Built and operated VDI environments in a financial services institution · Working in large scale enterprise environments · Familiarity with Citrix and or Microsoft VDI products *Qualifications and Skills * · VMware VCP 5.x · VMware VCA-DT 5.x · Good overall understanding of VMware Horizon View virtual infrastructure, including applications components, middleware, and virtualization; · Master’s/bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience *Personality * This role will require working with many levels within Client and its clients and therefore a positive, out-going and engaging personality is essential as are an investigative and inquisitive nature, attention to detail, self-motivation and drive.
