Location: Raleigh, NC Duration: 12+ months Rate: Open This position is to develop ArcSDE databases and procedures to administer the ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabase upgrades and deployments in support of the Strategic Transportation Investment Planning tool. This includes the following activities: . Develop, and implement ArcSDE feature datasets and classes for the core GIS strategic transportation planning datasets; . Establish and develop maintenance procedures for sound backup and recovery for core GIS strategic transportation planning datasets; . Develop and create maintenance procedures for annual processing; . Develop and create maintenance procedures for ArcSDE tuning and performance monitoring; . Develop and establish procedures for maintaining ArcSDE database security; . Troubleshooting ArcSDE for connectivity, access, performance and other issues. . Provide consultation to development teams and business units; . Follow procedures for applying service packs and upgrades for ArcSDE in environment; . Setup and maintain documentation and standards. Skills Needed: . Extensive hands on experience with deployment of ArcSDE in a large enterprise environment (required); . Advanced knowledge and experience with GIS industry principles, theories and best practices; . Good understanding of underlying SQL Server database; . Good knowledge and experience developing physical database design; . Advanced knowledge of SQL applied to Geodatabases; . Advanced understanding of GIS data formats, data conversion and data maintenance concepts; Knowledge and experience with spatial data governance; . The ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret organizational and procedural problems in order to make recommendations and alterations to existing procedures; . Advanced knowledge of the ArcSDE database administrator process; . Proficiency with Esri suite of software products . Proficiency with Python scripting . Knowledge with Esri ArcPy site-package . The ability to work within activity schedules from high level requests . The ability to work proficiently with minimal daily guidance .
