*Title: SQL DBALocation: Allentown, PALength: CTH (6 month C2C then perm) Rate: DOE* *Industry: Healthcare* *Face to face required*** *SUMMARY: * The DBA is responsible for managing development, test, staging, training and production database environments and related technologies. This person will execute database administrator duties in a regulated, health care environment, with a strict adherence to following Configuration Management and SDLC practices. The DBA will also be responsible for the creation of database accounts, roles, privileges, etc. in accordance with requests from Authorized requestors according to standard operating procedures. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* 1. Work with internal clients and teams to support the strategic goals of the organization and to evaluate, recommend and implement appropriate software & hardware systems design and architecture. 2. Manage the status of multiple Microsoft SQL environments and database instances. This includes system resource monitoring, backup activities, tuning and disaster recovery planning. 3. Provide supervisory/mentoring oversight to junior team members. 4. Ability to develop advanced level SQL and .Net code in support of DBA activities and as part of development project assignments. 5. Establish working relationships with technical, business and sourcing counterparts. 6. Lead and participate in development / engineering projects. 7. Act as technical lead within a team or lead focused projects independently. 8. Perform necessary database upgrades and patches. 9. Analyze database & system response time and determine tuning recommendations to improve performance. 10. Install Microsoft SQL server (2003 to 2012) software, service packs and supporting development and administration tools. 11. Develop processes and standards for Microsoft SQL server upgrades. 12. Provide patch/release analysis and guidance, apply and validate relevant updates 13. Manage Windows 2003 to 2012 Server database components across multiple environments. 14. Document activities and work according to SOPs / Policies. 15. Develop full suite of documentation as it relates to the customer-servicing database infrastructure (Work Instructions, Standards, policies and procedures, etc.) 16. Perform 24x7 advanced tier troubleshooting, including off-hour maintenance and optimization activities, problem resolution, and on-call Project support. *QUALIFICATIONS: * To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences or related field of study or equivalent with 10 years in information systems (Development or Engineering with DBA responsibilities), at least 4 in management experience within the health care or pharmaceutical industry. Clinical laboratory experience is helpful. 1. Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information, written and verbal to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors 1. Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 1. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define and solve complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction, involving multidisciplinary groups, software and hardware platforms. 1.
