In your VBA Editor, select Tools -> References.

are there any "checked" that are labelled:
"Missing..." ??
If there are, remove the checkbox next to it..

In my VBA References, I have selected:

Visual Basic for Applications
Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library
OLE Automation
Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library
Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library

I removed the bottom (3) and the Selection.Columns.Count
still worked.
it would not let me remove the first two,
so I could not test to see if they are the ones needed.

Selection.Columns.Count

I just had Office 2007 completely removed and re-installed on my
company laptop in hopes of solving this problem but the problems still
exists.  Here again are the symptoms:

Selection.Columns.Count -  generates Error 6 Overflow even with one
cell selected
Selection.Cells.CountLarge - generates Error 458 Variable uses an
Automation type not supported in Visual Basic

Any idea what might be the problem?  Is there a library that is
missing or not being reference? Is there some incompatibility with
another program (I do have Visual Studio 2005 installed). Other
computers in my company do not have this problem so there is something
about my laptop that is causing this problem.
