Dear Excel Experts,

A former professor of mine had a series of Excel spreadsheets
that he used to calculate properties of structural elements. Within
these spreadsheets he drew shapes (such as rectangles, circles,
triangles, etc..) using Excel's shapes tool. He would then enter in
data (such as the height of a beam or column) into a cell in a given
workbook and the shape would change relative to its original size. So
basically I am asking:

How do I change the size or properties of a shape drawn in an Excel
workbook based on the input in a certain cell?

I would like to create spreadsheets that would calculate material
properties of common structural engineering elements that have some
sort of visual element to them. I am fairly new to visual basic and
macros, so if any of you can help me, please keep things very simple
(if possible). Thanks so much anything you all can do for me!
