If you are saying you want the first word in a string then 
=LEFT(D10,FIND(" ",D10))
or

Sub fw()
For i = 2 To Cells(Rows.Count, 2).End(xlUp).Row
Cells(i, "c").Value = Left(Cells(i, "d"), InStr(1, Cells(i, "d"), " "))
Next i
End Sub
