You are using Excel 2007 Which version of Windows or are you on a Mac?. Is your colleague also using the same versions of Excel and operating system?
What format changes are happening? Some formats like date formats depend on the local machine settings. Others (such as the default color set) may be set in excel on a machine and could override the settings originally given to the workbook. Does your colleague have any macros which run when a new document is opened and which may affect the relevant formats?
